surgery techniques for vision comfort, first as a department of the Rutnin Eye Hospital, before the creation in 2000 of
Rutnin-Gimbel LASIK Centre, as a company fully dedicated today to refractive surgery.
Founder Professor Dr.Uthai Rutnin MD,FACS
Prior to establishing Rutnin Eye Hospital, Dr. Uthai Rutnin was one of the founders of Ramathibodhi Teaching Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand,and chaired the Ophthalmology Department there for many years. Returning to Thailand after his fellowship with Dr. Charles Schepens at the Massachuesetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard University, Boston, USA where he published his research on the peripheral fundus appearance in normal eyes, he was Thailand’s first true retina surgeon and instrumental in modernizing Ophthalmology in Thailand
